Baler is the upcoming official entry of Viva Films in the upcoming 2008 Metro Manila Film Festival. The movie features the first team-up of Jericho Rosales and Anne Curtis.
Synopsis: Baler is a tale of an overwhelming love of a young Filipina named FELIZA REYES (AnneCurtis) and CELSO RESURRECION (Jericho Rosales), a Spanish-Filipino soldier, set in the backdrop of 1898 wartime action between a 57-man Rifle Batallion of the Spanish military and the Filipino forces, more popularly known as the Seige of Baler.

Feliza is the beautiful daughter of Nanding (Phillip Salvador), who’s a member of therebel movement. This is the very reason why she and Celso have to keep their love a secret.

Nanding, whose primary goal is to completely wipe out the Spanish soldiers stationed in the town of Baler, can never accept Celso, a half- Indio, half Spanish soldier who chooses to serve the enemies more than the Filipino insurgents who are struggling and fighting for their independence, their freedom.

Feliza is in love with the man her father despises but who and what could stop the two young people who are madly in love with each other?

While we are drawn to the endearing story of a classic love that knows no time, place and race, we are also glided into the historic past to take a peek on what transpired inside the walls of the church of Baler where the last Spanish contingent (who are not aware that the war had actually ended), heroically defended Baler against the Filipino forces for 337 long and grueling days.

While Baler is a story of conflict, betrayal, suffering, self-preservation, selfishness, obstinacy, and self-interest, it is also a story of heroism, courage, love of freedom, patriotism, endurance, chivalry, humanity and above all, it also tells about a noble story of love in time of war--- the story of Feliza and Celso.

May nakasulat sa Kampilan at sa Kali na nagtuturo kung saan matatagpuan ang Peseta. Ninakaw ni Shimata ang Kali, pero hindi naman niya maintindihan kung ano ang nakasulat sa Kali. At paano mai-involved ang buong barkada sa exciting but dangerous search for the all-powerful Peseta?

The role of Mang Temy however may be retired as a tribute to cast member Bing Angeles
who passed away in 2001.

Cutting Edge Productions will showcase Pinoy animation in the 2008 Metro Manila Film Fest entry "Dayo".

The creative team of "Dayo" consulted published literature on local mythology. The main reference is the book Creatures of Philippine Lower Mythology by Maximo Ramos.

"Dayo" aims to reintroduce the other side of mythical creatures like the tikbalang, kapre, manananggal, and aswang by giving a new dimension to these usual reviled creatures. "They are normally presented as predators or portrayed as villains," explains director Robert Quilao. "We created a new twist to these characters by transforming the scary manananggal into the friendly manananggol (defender) who acts as the guardian of Elementalia."

"Dayo" is a hybrid product of combining 2D and 3D animation, powered by Toon Boom using Macintosh and Linux platforms. 2D animation is used for the characters while 3D animation is used for the backgrounds especially for the big scenes.

Synopsis: "Dayo" is a heartwarming story of overcoming one's fear and triumphing over adversity. It centers on the 11-year-old Bubuy (voiced by Nash Aguas) who is out to save his abducted grandparents in the land of Elementalia, a magical and mystical world that houses many of the Philippines' mythical creatures and other enchanted elements. Along the way, Bubuy meets Anna Manananggirl (voiced by Katrina Legaspi), a teen manananggal (a winged creature that can separate her torso from her lower body) who befriends and helps Bubuy in his quest to rescue his grandparents.

The conflict is set between the outspoken parish priest, Padre Allan (Ricky Davao) and the charismatic faith healer whom everyone calls “Manong” (Nanding Josef). But Mario’s wife, Isay (Aiza Marquez) is skeptical about the faith healer and the promise of a child for the couple.

As days pass by, the young woman’s ghost appears to Mario. Mario is reluctant and tries to make sense of the message Ada’s spirit is telling her. The conflict between the priest and the charismatic healer is unwoven. The young healer takes the old’s man’s place and the town heals its spiritual wounds.

A combination of high-octane adventures, family-friendly tales, rip-roaring comedies, delightful love stories and gripping thrillers comprise Walt Disney Studios' line-up of films for 2009. From Jim Carrey to Bruce Willis, Nicolas Cage to Adam Sandler, Miley Cyrus to the Jonas Brothers, the stars have aligned for a year-long celebration of wholesome entertainment.

G-Force. Producer Jerry Bruckheimer brings his first 3-D film to the big screen with a comedy adventure about the latest evolution of a covert government program to train animals to work in espionage. Armed with the latest high-tech spy equipment, these highly trained guinea pigs (voiced by Nicolas Cage, Sam Rockwell and Penelope Cruz) discover that the fate of the world is in their paws.

Up. From Disney/Pixar comes this comedic adventure about Carl (voice of Ed Asner) who has spent his entire life dreaming of exploring the globe and experiencing life to its fullest. But at age 78, life seems to have passed him by, until a twist of fate (and a persistent 8-year old) gives him a new lease on life.

Bedtime Stories. An adventure comedy about a hotel handyman (Adam Sandler) whose life is changed forever when the bedtime stories he tells his niece and nephew start to mysteriously come true.

Race to Witch Mountain. A thrilling action-adventure about a hard-luck cab driver (Dwayne Johnson), whose life is thrown into chaos when two apparent "runaway" teenagers jump into his taxi. He soon realizes that the kids possess exceptional paranormal powers.

A Christmas Carol. A multi-sensory thrill ride re-envisioned by Academy Award-winning filmmaker Robert Zemeckis. Starring Jim Carrey as Ebenezer Scrooge, the film captures the fantastical essence of the classic Dickens tale in a groundbreaking, performance-capture 3D motion picture event.

Confessions of a Shopaholic. In the glamorous world of New York City, Rebecca (Isla Fisher) is a fun-loving girl who is really good at shopping--a little too good, perhaps. She dreams of working for her favorite fashion magazine, but can't quite get her foot in the door.

Beverly Hills Chihuahua. A pampered, diamond-clad Chihuahua named Chloe (voice of Drew Barrymore) enjoys her luxurious lifestyle so much, she hardly notices Papi, a tough looking Chihuahua who happens to be head-over-paws for the fashionista pooch. But when Chloe gets lost in the rough streets of Mexico, Papi heads south of the border to rescue his true love.

Surrogates. FBI agents (Bruce Willis and Radha Mitchell) investigate the mysterious murder of a college student linked to the man who helped create a high-tech surrogate phenomenon that allows people to purchase unflawed robotic versions of themselves--fit, good looking remotely controlled machines that ultimately assume their life roles--enabling people to experience life vicariously from the comfort and safety of their own homes.

The Proposal. When high-powered book editor (Sandra Bullock) faces deportation to her native Canada, the quick-thinking exec declares that she's actually engaged to her unsuspecting put-upon assistant Andrew (Ryan Reynolds), who she's tormented for years. He agrees to participate in the charade, but with a few conditions of his own.

Jonas Brothers: The 3D Concert Experience. The Jonas Brothers head to the big screen--in Disney Digital 3D--in this high-energy rockumentary. The film blends excerpts from the Brothers' red-hot "Burning Up" concert tour, with exclusive behind-the-scenes footage, off-the-wall segments, and a lot of JB-style humor-giving fans never-before-seen insights into the lives of Kevin, Joe and Nick.

Hannah Montana: The Movie. The music-filled comedy adventure based on Disney Channel's blockbuster television series, "Hannah Montana," in which Miley Cyrus stars as a teenage girl Miley Stewart who lives a secret life as a pop star. The film follows Miley as Hannah's soaring popularity threatens to take over her life.

When in Rome. An ambitious young New Yorker (Kristen Bell), disillusioned with romance, takes a whirlwind trip to Rome where she defiantly plucks magic coins from a "foolish" fountain of love, inexplicably igniting the passion of an odd group of suitors (Josh Duhamel, Dax Shepard, Jon Heder and Danny DeVito).

Doubt. Meryl Streep, Philip Seymour Hoffman and Amy Adams star in the gripping film adaptation of a Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winning play about the quest for truth, the forces of change, and the devastating consequences of blind justice in an age defined by moral conviction.

Adventureland. Set in the summer of 1987, the film concerns an uptight recent college grad (Jesse Eisenberg) who is forced to take a minimum wage job at the local amusement park. The experience helps him to loosen up a bit as he finds first love (Kristen Stewart), forms new friendships and matures just in time to enter the real world in the fall.

The Boy in Striped Pajamas. Eight year-old Bruno is the sheltered son of a Nazi officer whose promotion takes the family from their Berlin home to a desolate area where the lonely boy finds no-one to play with. Crushed by boredom and compelled by curiosity, he ignores his mother's repeated instructions not to explore the back garden and heads for the "farm" he has seen in the near distance. There he meets Shmuel, a boy his own age who lives a parallel, alien existence on the other side of a barbed wire fence.

Movie Tagline: This is the story of a woman who goes to the Land Down Under for the sake of her family and her dreams, and the man who would go to the ends of the earth to follow her.

Synopsis: After working for several years in Manila, Migo (Piolo Pascual) returns to Bukidnon, to its magnificent rolling hills and lush pasture lands, to reclaim the ranch that his family had lost after his father's death.

During the Kaamulan festival, Migo sees his first love, Arah (Angel Locsin), who also happens to be the beautiful and fearless rodeo queen of Bukidnon. He falls in love with her all over again and resolves to win back her heart as well.

However, Arah is already engaged to Brian Sullivan, an Australian rancher. Being the eldest daughter of a poor cowboy, she feels compelled to accept this man's offer of marriage in order to give her family a better life, no matter how much she still loves Migo.

Arah leaves Bukidnon, along with a group of Pinoy cowboys who have been hired to work in the vast and lonely Australian ranch, which is even bigger than Bukidnon.

Arah thinks it's all over between her and her great love, but two years later, Migo arrives in Australia to work as a cowboy and, more importantly, to get Arah back.

Quantum of Solace is the 22nd James Bond film by EON Productions, due for release in the United Kingdom on 31 October 2008 and in North America on 14 November. The sequel to the 2006 film Casino Royale, it is directed by Marc Forster, and features Daniel Craig's second performance as James Bond. In the film, Bond battles Dominic Greene (Mathieu Amalric), a member of the Quantum organisation posing as an environmentalist, who intends to stage a coup d'état in Bolivia to take control of its water supply. Bond seeks revenge for the death of Vesper Lynd, and is assisted by Camille (Olga Kurylenko), who also wants to kill Greene.

Producer Michael G. Wilson created the film's plot while Casino Royale was shooting. Neal Purvis, Robert Wade, Paul Haggis and Joshua Zetumer contributed to the script. The title was chosen from an unrelated 1960 short story in Ian Fleming's For Your Eyes Only. Location filming took place in Panama, Chile, Italy and Austria, while the sets were built at Pinewood Studios. Forster aimed to make the film more modern yet classic: antique planes were used for a dogfight sequence, while Dennis Gassner's set designs are reminiscent of Ken Adam's work on several early Bond films, yet Forster rejected a grotesque appearance for Greene to comment on the hidden nature of the film's corporate villains.

Cast:
Daniel Craig plays James Bond.
Mathieu Amalric plays Dominic Greene, a leading member of Quantum posing as a businessman working in reforestation and charity funding for environmental science.
Olga Kurylenko plays Camille, a Russian-Bolivian agent and the lead Bond girl.
Gemma Arterton plays MI6 Agent Fields, who works at the British consulate in Bolivia.
Judi Dench plays M.
Jeffrey Wright plays Felix Leiter, Bond's CIA ally who aided him at Casino Royale in Montenegro.
Anatole Taubman plays Elvis, Dominic's cousin and second-in-command.
Giancarlo Giannini plays Rene Mathis, a French double agent who helps Bond discover for whom Le Chiffre and Mr. White worked.
Joaquin Cosío plays General Medrano, who is Bond's enemy in Latin America
Jesper Christensen plays Mr. White, whom Bond captured after he stole the money won at Casino Royale in Montenegro.
Rory Kinnear plays Bill Tanner, M's aide, and Tim Pigott-Smith plays the British Foreign Secretary.

Star Cinema has definitely found another gem via My Only Ü as Box Office Movie Director Cathy Garcia-Molina explained its simple but heart warming plot in its recent press conference. “Tungkol po ito sa isang taong nagmamahal, at nagkataong yung taong mahal niya ay mamamatay na. Si Vhong (Navarro) ang may unrequited love kay Toni (Gonzaga) who’s dying. He thought so. Ang question lang talaga, kung ang taong mahal mo ay mamamatay na, ano’ng gagawin mo in the last days of her life?” The film’s music video (You Can’t Hurry Love) alone plus its publicity posters showing Toni Gonzaga and Vhong Navarro hanging on a clothesline have already captured the interest of many viewers. How did they come up with that idea anyway? “Yung poster, it’s actually a literal translation of putting oneself on the line for the other. Pinisikal masyado pero yun po yun,” Direk Cathy adds

Starring: Toni Gonzaga, Vhong Navarro, Dennis Padilla, Janus Del Prado, Arlene Muhlach, KitKat, Empoy Marquez, and Benjie Paras
